The best thing about this new update is that it is FREE to all Everything Bundle subscribers and Slate Digital plug-in owners. Over Sampling is not a "fix all" or "makes is better" button. However, Over Sampling will increase latency and load to your host computer so use this only when needed. This can be used at lower sample rates if you are getting unwanted distortion from some of the saturation plug-ins. The final big feature is a new Over Sampling option. The browser has been made faster with a new search function for presets and load times of the VMR are much improved. Some of the vintage EQ's have had work to make them a little less noisy and "vintage" sounding. There have also been a number of sonic updates to some of the VMR rack modules. Often we try things that lead us down the wrong path and these buttons are going to help us back-up from this. Next to the Slate logo there are now Undo and Redo buttons so if make a mistake or someone messes with your mix you can quickly get back to where you were. There is now a new Clear button to instantly remove all modules from the VRM. It would appear that many the new tweaks and features in VMR 2.0 are the sort of thing that comes from user requests and a little time using VMR in a real-world mix. Using drag and drop the order of the Dream Strips can be quickly changed so as you refine your mix process you can make sure your most used VRM configuration is always the default. You are given 7 factory set Dream Strips but you can remove or edit these as you wish but the most you can have at one time is 8. This will load automatically when you instantiate a new VMR in your DAW. VMR 2.0ĭream Strips are 8 fully loaded completely user definable VMR configurations that appear as buttons just above the left set of the VMR rack section. Version 2.0 adds a number of tweaks to the already very popular VMR system but the main feature is something called Dream Strips, a quick and easy way to populate your VMR from the moment you open it up. The team at Slate Digital have just announced an update to the Virtual Mix Rack or VMR.
